96 cavalier no start after lower engine change with a 98 caviler

I took the 98 cav lover half and put it in my 96 cav. I get no spark. checked all wires, coilpacks, vats system, I have done every thing but this crank sensor i have been reading about could someone give me some more information on what this looks like. I did have to chang a senso that was 2 wire on the 98 to the 96 sensor since the connections were different. I was about 2-3in long with metal at the end that went inside the engine below the intake. help would be great
