Unhappy How do you know it's a real Saleen?

I am interested in a used 2004 Saleen Mustang I saw at a dealership. Their specs they list online show it to be a GT with 290hp. I'm confused about that. Thought the saleens had more.

I saw the car in person and it definitely looks like one (has the labels, spoilers, ground effects, etc...). I think on the back it says it's a S281 of some kind.

But I'm skeptical. How do I know what the hp really is on this baby and how do you know it's really a saleen??

Help please before I buy this beauty!

there is a 290hp saleen. it's kinda like the base one. still a nice car. what color/how much they askin? the only real way to know if it's a saleen is if it has the number on the front bumper that matches up with the number on the little placard thing and the paperwork that comes with saleens.

Thanks for your response...

They are asking $24,981 for it. It has 8,900 miles on it. It's still a nice car, no doubt and stands out a bit from all the other GT's. Will likely go for it!

Forgot to mention since you asked. It's maroon with a light beige leather interior. Pretty sharp.

Re: How do you know it's a real Saleen?

most of the "nicer" saleen's will definitly feeeel more like beast. If its supercharged, than its either the s281 or the extreme. Take it for a test drive, you will know if its supercharged

On the other hand....if you are looking for HP 24 grand can get you a shitload more than 290 hp....get gt and soup the shit out of it.
