1987 560 SL Convertable Roof Maintanance
Hey,
My Aunt has a 1987 560 SL convertable. The condition is mint. This May she took it to Maine and got stuck in the rain for a couple days. She used the roof for the first time in 18 years. There were no leaks in the roof top. Is there any maintenance that needs to be done to the roof or the windows? She was wondering if it needs to be treated with silicone or any other similar type of preservative. I believe it's a canvas roof with some vinyl windows. Apprciate any feedback. Thanks. Mike |

Re: 1987 560 SL Convertable Roof Maintanance
I wish I could help you but I don't recal anything that has to be done. you might want to lube the cables a little with some light oil, and maybe keep some plastic window conditioner on the clear windows. Be sure the top is not cold when you operate it to keep the plastic wondows from cracking. Maybe someone else can add something?
