Just had tranny flush - fluid is slightly dark.
2-3 months ago I had my tranmission drained & re-filled at Midas. Then added a bottle of Lucas Tranny Conditioner. Today I took my car in and they usually bring back this palette with your fluids dapped on one side and the new fluids dapped on the other. My good friend was working on my car today at Precision Tune and said my Tranmission fluid needs to be changed. Any way how this could happen?? I mean I saw Midas taking off my pan and replacing the gasket. Then saw them add new fluid. Do I need a cleaner? All some car places do is drain and refill. The term "flush" should be chemical cleaned after drained, right? Is that what need to be done??

Hey, yeah flush means FLUSH. Drain and fill only removes half of the trans fluid, the other half is in there and needs to be flushed out, specifically the torque converter.
I went to Avis Lube a year back and they charged like $99 for a COMPLETE flush and refill, they changed gasket's/filter also. They hook up this machine to the refill nozzle in the engine bay, and pump fluid through there to flush out the old stuff. PS, 14K miles later my tranny fluid is light pink. Which is what it should be, btw..use Mercon 3 or even better 5..also known as mercV.

damn so when they drained only half came out... and they actually charge 69.99$ for that! and still use the word "flush" ....I guess I'll have to get it done again soon and get a real flush this time.

Don't forget, it's YOUR CAR. Tell them you want to look over what they are doing.
That's when i seen them hook up a machine to the refill tube and start pumping/flushing new mercon fluid through it.

I almost made a bad mistake last week...
I took my Bird to a shop that claimed to "flush" transmissions, and was going to leave the shop while they were working. Glad I didn't, because after the tranny was drained, they brought out A GARDEN HOSE to flush it with WATER!!! Always make sure to watch their every move...
