89 b2200 timming

hi i live in california and it is smog time for my 89 mazda. I got a pre test and it passed emisions fine but the guy said i needed to adj timing and set idle to 750-800 RPM to pass for smog. i don't have the orig. hood so the sticker that tells me what my timming is to be set at is not there. I did a search here and came up with about 6-8 degrees advanced, sound right for a california 1989 B2200.
Thanks for your help
