Blinker / Multi function switch
I have a 99 Blazer and want to try and change my multifunction blinker switch myself. The dealer wants 400 plus. I am able to get the bottom cover off the steering column and the lower dash piece. How the heck do I get the top of column cover off so that I can get to the top of the switch. It looks as if the dash surround piece needs to be taken off?
Help I don't want to go to the dealer anymore, they are killing me.

Re: Blinker / <ulti function switch
Hope you have disabled the airbag system.

Re: Blinker / Multi function switch
OUCH!, I don't want to have that go off. Is this better handled by the dealer? or can I find detailed instructions on how to change it without getting blown into the back seat with a wrench stuck in my forehead.

Re: Blinker / <ulti function switch
Buy a Haynes or chiltons repair manual or both.
They show you how to do it. Be safe, that airbag has the force of a shotgun when it hits you at close range like that.

I recently replaced the blinker/multi-function switch in my 97 Blazer. Following the Chilton manual, it was very easy - only problem was the sticker shock for the switch from the dealer - $365.71 plus tax.
