97 2.0 Jetta questions...

hey all,
Well just had a few questions i was hoping you guys could answer. One: how can i check the transmision fluid? Two: Where is the idle adjustment? is there one? Three: has anyone ver had to replace the battery cables? like the actual qwires? i wish i could just replace the clamp to the battery, because it seems to be bad... not sure the best way to attack that situation. and also any ideas on the cost of cleaning the throttle body? Could i do it myself? Thanks for any help.
Anthony

Re: 97 2.0 Jetta questions...

1) http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...o+transmission

2) There is no idle adjustment, it's computer controlled.

3) If it's the clamps that are bad just cut the wires, strip them back & use a universal cable clamp available at any parts store.

4) You can clean the throttle body yourself. Remove the air intake pipe, open the throttle valve and spray with throttle body cleaner (not carburetor cleaner as some are not O2 sensor safe) and use a toothbrush to scrub off all the black gunge.

Check this out...

One day my car was dead. I jumped it off and then it was fine. But then I noticed when I had the a/c on the rpms would drop to about 650 or so and flutuate between 650 and 800. As soon as I turned the ac off it would resume at a steady 800. Then by battery went dead again. So I put two and two together and came up with a new battery. Now my car is cranking up fine... but the rpms at idel are still low...very low... you can feel the weakness when you taking off.

Now the problem is related to the battery.

Could it be the alternator.... my dead wants to say the "Fuel pump".

Please tell me no way fuel pump. I mean does the fuel pump cause the battery to go dead and besides if the fuel pump is going out.. would the low rpm's happen just when I had the a/c on????
