what im looking at is, when a turbo car revs the engine in neutral, the boost gauge shows that boost is being generated

when you say its not building pressure, you are saying that its not building boost, correct? i want to make sure we are talking about the same thing here

Im new to thew forum and im wondering. when i rev up my engine in gear or not. the boost gauge will climg up then slowly go back down again at normal driving speeds. and i cant get my BOV to blow off, which makes sence because of lack of pressure. but when im racing the boost is there and i can feel when the rubo kicks in. Oh yeah the car is a 88 nissan 300 zx shiro z. 2 things come to my mind. either A. a gasget is broke somewhere or a hose or clamp is broken causing a leak in my pressure. or B my intake filter is damn plugged and not pullin air in or something of that nature. any ideas or ways to fix would be appreciated

what type of BOV are you using? stock or aftermarket? some aftermarket BOV are made to be silent. also, are you blowing to the atmosphere or recirculating back into the intake pipe?

Re: turbo question

enygma500 - you must be on stock bov, it goes off but u cant hear it.

Turbo spools at the max of 1-2 psi from my experience on neutral.

its an aftermarket one with a pretty big whistle, and its not a recirculating one. i have it all hooked up right and everything. hell I even hear alot of whistle from the turbo now but i dont hear blow off when i shift. i know how they work too but its not doing it, i was thinkin i just got a blow off valve too big for the stockj pressure and maybe with a boost controller i could make it make some noise. also when im driving nicely the boost on the pressure gauge will go up then slowly come back down is that a leak somewhere or is thats what supposed to happen

yeah i found out thats prob what my problem is. i guess the stock boost on my car is only like 1-2 psi. So im getting my buddy to make me a boost controller. but still nothing i have read answered my question about my intake pressure. if i hold the gas at an high enough rpm to get boost out of the turbo and watch my boost guage for some reason pressure will drop. im not sure if this is normal turbo stuff or not. but when i give er shit and race i dont lose any pressure it stays constant and i can feel when the turbo starts goin so i know the turbo is spooling good
