1992 525i Transmission Problems

I just bought this car. It all checked out fine, but after taking posession of the car I have discovered several transmission problems. If anyone can help I would appreciate it.

1) The trany is slow to engage in Reverse (hot or cold)

2) The trany operates normal when it's cold, but after 30+ minutes it starts to act very funny. Sometimes it will just disengage all together and the engire will rev like it's in neutral. Then I will shif to neutral while driving and it will be fine.... or I will just give it a few seconds and it will re-engage, but the car will not accelerate.

3) As I condinue to drive it the trany engine light will appear, and sometimes the words "transmission programme" will also appear.

4) The ECU seem to reset sometimes while driving, but I have noticed that when the car is hot I have to stop the engine and restart it, or wait 5 minutes or more, before re-starting it so I can drive the car.

I replaced the trany fluid, and the trany seems to opperate a a higher efficiency for the first 20 minutes or so, but then it starts to behaive as described above.

Any ideas? Is there an overhaul kit I can get which will fix the problem by replacing solenoids behind the trany drain pan which will fix the problem? Are there any options other than rebuilding the trany?

I'm thinking that if the trany can operate properly for some period of time, and my problems seem to be temperature dependent, then I must have an electrical or solenoid problem, but I have never owned a BMW before so you help will be much appreciated!
