so ever since i got my lowered civic ive had the problem of speed bumps, potholes, etc. I know a lowered car will be much more sensitive to irregularities in the road. but...

When i go over a small bump nice and slow (less than 15 mph) its fine. A little faster and i hear a THUMP!!! i assume this sound is the bumpstops. i dont know what condition they are in, seeing as i just found out what they were! (yeah i used the Search feature).

I have nuespeed springs on the stock shocks. i think the car has been dropped in teh neighbor hood of 1.75-2 inches (wheels are even with the wheel wells in the rear and very slightly covered by the wheel wells in the front).

Im concerned about the condition of my shocks on these shorter springs. I have a lot of questions about my suspension... if you guys could answer any of them, that would be awesome.

If i had a shock that wouldnt allow my suspension to move so fast, then it wouldnt hit those bump stops so easily right? What are the symptom's of a blown shock? What shocks would you recommend? Koni? What kind of damage can be done by hitting those bumpstops really hard? (i hit em at about 50mph on a really bad pothole on a bridge... felt like the impact wasnt nearly as bad in the rear).

Stock shocks on a lowered car is a very bad idea and a very good way to blow your shocks out. Everyone around here seems to recommend Koni yellows for shocks, and supposedly the reds are good too. I have KYB AGX's on my prelude and I love them, I've heard them recommended as well.

Your struts could be worn resulting in a noise, the upper mounts could also be worn. 2" on stock struts wont last very long. The bump stops should be cut in 1/2 when using lowering springs to increase the suspension travel lost during lowering.

I rec. the best adjustable struts you can afford
1. Koni yellow
2. Tokico Illumina
3. KYB AGX

My car has the AGX's with no complaints. The only down side to KYB's is they are stock length which shouldn't be used with more than 1.75" drop, Tokico's are also stock length. That leaves you with Koni yellows.
