actually, running taller tires is the same as putting in shorter gears. so technically it will hurt your acceleration slightly but will allow you to run lower rpms on the highways. but it will be a slight change.

ok well yeah if you do that, but it dosnt always work out perfectly. and more often than not, especially with domestic cars, the bigger tires in the back are much taller than the factory specs. but yes, so long as you get tires with an aspect ratio that will allow your new tire/wheel combo to match the factory specs, it wont affect performance.
