Need A PRO on 90 OLDS TROFEO

HI,
Can anyone help with a 90 Trofeo cutting out and backfiring through the intake when Accelerating ? I put new plugs and wires on, but no help.
I am running short on $ and hope to fix the car myself.
Thanks for any help you might have.
Wayne

Why don't you get your ECM checked? that should point out a faulty sensor, etc. that might lead to a cause of your problem.

I only had my Trofeo for 167k miles, but...

the only time I ever had a performance problem whatsoever was at about 95 k miles when the car would occasionally buck or not start and stay started.

The service guy was all over it for 2 days, and all it turned out to be was a vacuume hose.
