2000 GMC Jimmy SLT

Oh, man, I'm losing my mind on this one...I need help:

I start my 2000 GMC Jimmy 2000 SLT with (I believe) a dealer installed remote start and anti-theft system...put the truck in reverse, move back about 5 feet and the entire thing dies. No power, no dome lights, no nothing. Electrical system went completely down. So, I put the auto trans into park, try to start again, and nothing. It wont even click. Then, I try to take the key out of it, and the cylendar wont let go of the key AND I cant move the autmatic trans shifter into nuetral or anything. The key is stuck in the on position. Thinking it was a security device thing, I opened manuals and searched on line to see if there is any kind of an "on" button - but I got nothing - there's nothing in the vehicle manual for this..

The truck is still sitting where I left it in my driveway and I'm waiting for my mechanic to come in tomorrow morning so I can call him...could someone tell me what it could be? My wife believes the computer completely went dead on it...and thats a huge fix. I tried to jump it via cables and everything, but its still dead.

Anyone have any wadvice? Like I said, the KEY IS STUCK IN THE ON POSITION AND THE AUTOTRANS SHIFTER WILL NOT MOVE TO NUETRAL...its the weirdest thing I have ever seen in my entire life.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: 2000 GMC Jimmy SLT

Hello, I had the same problem with my 2000 jimmy. You might want to check your battery cables real good. (My battery connections were not good and the terminals were dirty so my jimmy didn't start,The key was locked in the ignition, I couldn't shift the transmition Etc..) I know it might sound to too easy, But, After all the Hassle with towing my jimmy to the GMC dealer and finding out that the only thing wrong was dirty terminals and a loose battery connection, I felt Real DUMB! "AND IT COST ME $100.00 TO FIND OUT". MY GMAC ROAD SERVICE CARD PAID FOR THE TOWING.

Anyway, I hope this helps.
Take Care,
PETE
