vibration and grinding
I hope u guys can help me out
The wifes 2000 neon developed a vibration and a grinding noise after i put new tires on it . It only happens after the car warms up and it goes away if u saw the steering wheel left and right. I took it to a local shop and had a tranny service done that didn't solve it so I did the front brakes (everything is moving freely)that didn't solve it either so i jacked it up and put it on jack stands had the wife run it in gear while i lay under it with a stethascope to try to pinpoint the noise, the hub bearing sounded ok and the tranny sounded ok the cv joints feel tight and the boots are in good condition and there are no trouble codes set . I'm out of ideas so i'm hoping that someone her has a few more (ps the wife says it sounds like a gas powers remote control plane when she's driving on the highway) TIA Steve |

Re: vibration and grinding
I really think that the noise your hearing is a front hub bearing. Pretty hard to tell which side. It will usually not make noise if the wheels are off the ground and usually starts to make noise and then stop for abit before they start to roar. Good luck Wayne

Re: vibration and grinding
Swap the tires off.... you may have thrown a weight or bought a tire with a bad belt. (that does not account for the grinding) I had one tire with a bad belt and it made a mystery noise..... until I changed the tires.
Grinding does not sound good.....hmmmmm |
