Ready To Cry
OK my ford explorer was fine up till now... ( or though I thought it was) I went out today and as I stepped on the brake..... I felt nada.... it grabbed a lil the rest was spongey.... Nowwwwwwwwwwww I go in the back above drivers side rear tire and have the brakes stepped on and there is a leak.. Seams the line rusted through...... Being Im female....... What has to be done and can this be fixed easily..? |

You can buy brake lines and have them installed. Or you can buy the complete line(high dollar) and have it installed. But remember, you are talking about your brakes. How much do you value your life? Iwould have it professionally repaired unless there is another connection that you can just replace a small section of line. We cut and replace lines every day, but we have a shop that has all the correct tools. Good luck and think wisely.

Take the advice from Way2old. let a professional fix your brakes. I am not a mechanic but I am a husband and a father. I like to putter with the mechanics and electronics of my vehicles.....But I don't learn by doing on the brake systems of my vehicles. If they don't run, it's one thing. But if they don't stop...It could be a life I cherish. Bite the bullet and let a professional mechanic have a look!!!

I would have to agree with the other guys. I just replaced the brake line on my 86 bronco. it rusted thru right about the same place that you just discribed on your explorer. I have a 93 explorer and if it were me I would have it professionally done because brake lines are no joke.
