I'm waiting to see the new AmV8 in person. I was less impressed w/ the DB9 in real life than I thought I would be. I think the AmV8 will be my next car if I like it and can fit in it. But I won't buy the first year run of any car, so maybe next spring, after the first year kinks are bugged out.

See the DB9 used to be my ultimate dream car, but it is not no.1 anymore even though it is still one of my favorites. The F430 came out and got the throne of my heart

A comparison...Vanquish S wins
I was at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas a few weeks ago and they have a new Ferrari dealership.
I spent quite some time looking at the F430. I under the "sex" appeal to that car but when I compare it to the Vanquish S I just ordered, I feel strongly I made the right decision. The ride is comparable, the inside is way superior and I do love the exterior. As for the sound of the engine, there is no comparison. The Vanquish S is the best sounding engine in the world. Granted the F430 was impressive but the Vanquish S wins in my book in every aspect. |

I appreciate your comments and it is hard for me to comment on the F430 as I have only seen it an never driven one.
I would assume, and I emphasize the word assume, that the performance of the F430 is at least similar to the 575M Maranello. I have read some articles that compare the new Vanquish S to the 575M and the Vanquish S comes out on top in many of the aspects you speak of. While the 575M may beat the Vanquish S off the line at 0-60, I am not sure if you keep going that the Vanqush S doesn't then over take the 575M. I have driven the new Vanquish S and the take-off power in third gear at 50-70 mph is unbelievable. Just some thoughts. Not that familiar with Ferrari enough but I have read some reviews that pick the Vanquish S over the 575M. |

Re: Why is this forum not more active?
F430 specs
0-60 in 4.0 sec. top speed 315km/h(196 mph) weight: 1450kg(3197 lbs) Power: 490 HP 114HP per liter It is very impressive for a car with smaller displacement than the 6liter V12 Vanq. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the Vanquish S is bad, I just think that the F430 has a more efficient engine with better output for a smaller engine and a very VERY VERY savage car....But I love the Vanquish as well |

And it is faster than a 575M in terms of acceleration and in the handling course...

The real question is, I guess, what do you plan to DO with it? I mean are you going to Drag race the car? Wrong Car! Are you going to road course the car? Wrong Car! Bench numbers are interesting for the internet only. I mean, those are the same numbers of a $40,000 Mustang (Shelby GT500). There are many more visceral things to a car than performance numbers. Kind of like women. One of them will give you that tinglely feeling inside when you drive it and one will not. Obviously, go w/ the one that does.
