98 Toyota corolla- Knocking Sound

Whenever I accelerate there is a knocking sound that comes right under the gas pedal. Not sure if thats the axle or what. If anyone has any ideas in what I should be looking for I would appreciate it.

Check your engine mounts.When you acelerate the motor tries to rotate.If the mounts are bad or broken the engine rotates mor than required and so may be the exhaust hits the under side of the car.All the best!!

kitty, did you figure out the problem cause it sounds like the same thing happening to my corolla. At first I thought it was an exhaust leak but no luck there. It sounds really bad on hard left turns. Thanks.

Check you CV joint boot to see if it is torn open or cracked. If it is, then the CV joint needs to be replaced. Check both sides. If it makes noise when turning left, then the right side is bad.

I finally broke down and took to a shop. I had to replace my left front wheel hub. Hope this helps point you in the right direction.
