you didnt have to do anythign to it in order to make it legal you just swapped out the motor? did you put it in a mr2 turbo or a NA?

I'm not sure if cali does this but some oil/transmission servicing places (when i was in tech school in Texas, around Sheppard AFB, Wichitta Falls) would do emission and vehicle inspections and they would give you a receipt or something saying you passed the inspection. But i'm sure cali is more strict on these things so they wouldn't have those type of service places giving inspections. Most of the time there's always a way around things. You could go talk to a local aftermarket shop and talk with them, usually they know what they're talking about or talk to Mobit. I'm sure he has a lot more answers.
You know what, screw it. Register it now and then swap haha. You didn't hear it from me.

that what i was thinking on doing get it smogged and everything then swap out the motor. how often do you have to smog? i have talked to mobit a little bit and its helped a little bit but i dont have aim so yea we have it were you put a thing in the exhaust and test the percentages of whats coming out of the gases but yea ill fig a way round

Honestly, you can probably find someone to pass you regardless of what you have done to your car for about $100.
