04 Cav Need's some muscle
I've had my 04, 4 dr cav for about 5-6 months now and it's just getting nice out side and i've been dieing to start working on it...only problems are cash and lack of expirence working on new engines. the only car i've worked on before this was me and a few buddies swapped his 78 monty carlo v6 for a v8 301. fisrt things first, i'm putting new brakes and rotors on, but after that, where's the best place to start, because i really like the way this car carries it's self, it just needs a bit of work in the hp department....any thoughts?

Re: 04 Cav Need's some muscle
ther are alway the simple bolt ons like exhaust cold air intake and headers. the are many companies that carry parts for it you can try AEMpower.com, DCsports.com and a company called RKsports. but i dont know thier website. then theres also another company injen.com. then theres always nitrous the quick fast solution to awsome HP numbers. i personally dont like nitrous because i think its cheating. well theres companies like ZEX, NOS (nitrous oxide systems), and NX (nitrous express). im not sure of there website name but you should definatly can find nitrous and any automotive store.

I also have a 04 4dr so you can do like Im doing. Its fun!!
Go up to the top of the forum list to the little black j-body book and start shopping around. Since your looking to start off slowly (good call btw) start off N/A to get a feel for everything that and so that by the time your done if you did everything right going N/A your car should be ready after a while of building up the motor and such with all sorts of new pretty dodads that you can go forced. Start off buying the cheapest stuff as well as the basics first. B&M shift plus if you are A/T or a short shifter if you are M/T then work your way up from there such as cold air intake or ram air what ever gives you a chubby at the time. Then you can get into things such as pulley, exhaust, header and weight reduction parts such as carbon fiber components such as hood, trunk and fenders. Once you start doing all the little easy stuff the 04s just become a cake walk after that. All I can say from here is HP costs how much do you want to spend. As well as always keep in mind that its your car. There may be some things you do to it that others are not always going to like but keep in mind its not about what other people like its about what you like and what you think looks good. By the end of the day if you can look at your car and feel proud of it thats all that matters. |
