1st question: when im within the 3000 - 5000 rpms around 2nd or 3rd gear, i noticed that the rpm needle starts to jump wildly back and forth. a friend of mine told me that it was the cable and that i shouldnt worry about it. it just started doing it recently. should i be worried? what can i do to fix it?
2nd question: im trying to replace the expansion valve for my a/c unit. does anyone know where it is? i looked in the haynes manual and i couldnt find it. any one point me in the right direction?

Re: got two questions
Expansion valves are usually very close to the evaporator core, it may be up there in the dash where you can't see it.
As for the tach jumping...I'd be looking for a bad dash ground or corroded tach reference wire, I suppose. They usually come off the distributor, maybe your manual has a wiring schematic? Seems your PCM is registering an RPM signal OK, or the motor would be going nuts too. The problem is probably on the gauge end of the harness.
