1993 535I Hard Start and rough idling
I have just bought a used 93 BMW 535I. It drives so good!!
I need some help: 1) Most of the time I have to crank my 93 535I three times before it starts. Once it start, it drives perfertly. Please help me resolve the starting problem. 2) One other problem is that, whenever the car is engaged in DRIVE (its an automatic transmission), I get some vibration, just like idling effect. This happens also when I step on the brakes. The car drives perfectly as long as it's in motion. Any help will be well appreciated. Thanks. |

Re: 1993 535I Hard Start and rough idling
For #1 - How is your battery? Has your starter ever been changed?
For #2 - Does the car vibrate when it's in Drive and you're at a stand still? How are your brake rotors? Suspension bushings? Are your wheels balanced? If you don't know the condition of most of these parts, you might want to do an Inspection II either on your own or at a dealership to get a good idea of what's wrong with your car.

1. The battery is brand new - I just bought it 4 weeks ago. The start always crank, however I don't know how long it's been used for. The car acts as if it needs more fuel to start. What are the symtoms of a bad starter? 2. Yes. The car vibrates when it's in Drive and I am at a stand stil. The rotors and bushings are brand new. 4 weeks old. The car appears to be well aligned. Thanks in advance. I hope you will provide some more information that will help me resolve these problems. |

Had the same starting problem on my 525. Fuel pump needed replacement. It's an easy fix.
