Another Montana key problem

We recently bought a preowned Montana from a dealer which had only one key. Since we are a couple, we asked that a second key be made at no charge and they did. However, while the key does unlock the door, it immediately sets off the alarm and we have to use the remote control to deactivate the alarm. Our first suggestion was that they give us a second remote as well, but dealer said no and we would have to pay $100 to buy one. Dealer tried reprogramming key again, but still same problem. Then I realized that we had never tried to use the original key without first using the remote to open doors, so I tried that key and discovered that it, too, sets off the alarm. Dealer now says problem is with car's electrical system. My wife is relunctant to let them work on the electrical system because she feels that they will create other problems if they start fooling with it. Is that the real source of the problem or is it with the keys not being programmed properly?

If you lock the doors with the keyfob, the "alarm" gets armed. Unlocking them with a key will set the alarm off no matter if you are using the key or not. The door locks also can arm the alarm. I beleive though that this can be disabled through programming the BCM. Instructions are in your owners manual. If you didn't get one, let us know and someone can help you out.

You can get a keyfob on ebay for a lot less then $100. Instructions for programming it are stickied at the top of this forum.

I tried unlocking the doors with the, and either key was able to unlock them again without setting off the alarm. So is what you are saying that there is nothing wrong with the electrical system and nothing that needs to be "fixed?"
