1988 camery fuel pump

Do i have to drop gas tank to install new fuel pump?I pulled seat and have access to sending unit only. Can i install a new inline fuel pump like a bosh @ 90 psi and do i need a regulator to maintain 40psi , and leave old pump in tank. cranemen1

for a pump change on an 89 you have to drop the tank. On the gen 3 they figured that out and you can change both the sending unit/pump through the back seat.
