B16 swap fuel economy?

If you have a B16 swap in your Rex, what's your average MPG driving normally?

B16A and economy in the same line.... bwahahahahahahahaha

No such thing because as soon as you get on the powerband (where mine tends to live), fuel economy dies in the arse

Best was about 6.9km/l doing an economy run interstate. Worst was almost double that hammering it hard.

If youn keep it below 3,000rpm where it will quite happily pull a little rex around in traffic with no trouble, then you will get awsome economy. Possibly better than what your getting now.

But thats about as likely as me getting to sleep with Buffy, because as soon as you get above 5,000rpm you will never want to leave it.

Its like a drug! and like all drugs it will ruin things. In this case your economy. But damn when you get a shift to 3rd just before it hits the limiter at 8,100rpm and feel it pull hard again as the speedo reachs license loseing speeds, then you shift to 4th. its a great feeling. :smoker2: :smoker2: :smoker2:

I can manage between what is about 25-30mpg if I just drive normaly, and Im sure the rex will get better.

Of course you wont get that for at a least a month after doing the swap. Winding it out will be much more fun.

my d16a6 is runnin so bad right now that I'm only getting around 20mpg. Doing the swap (and I pray it goes well) will give me much more hp and better gas mileage! That is sweet.

I have to learn to stop bouncing it off the rev limiter I hate it 'cause I always listen to the engine, not watch the tacho. The engine is pulling strong even at 8000 so I expect more from it... today I was dragging a modded 308 powered ute (auto) and we were neck and neck (I wasn't dumping it at the lights, nor was he and we both hit 150 before backing off) but I kept missing changes aand hitting the limiter as I couldn't hear the engine over his noise

The one trip i did that I took fuel economy figures on I got over 30 mpg

Most of that was just cruising at 3300 in 5th but ocassinally around at 8200 (including 3 times in 4th )

Gonna be doing a few trips in the next while so Ill be trying to do better (having a gf that lives 360km away from me is not good for my wallet if I push it too hard)
