1991 Cherokee Rotor Disc Removal
I have a 1991 Cherokee 4WD Laredo. I'm trying to change my front wheel brake pads and rotor disc. I have the pads off, but cannot get the rotor disc off. The repair manual states that I need to remove the wheel bearing nut to get the rotor disc off. However, I cannot free the nut, due to it being frozen by rust, etc. I have a 1-7/16" rachet socket, and a pipe extension for leverage, but it will not move the nut. Does anyone have any thoughts on how to best free this nut? What's the most effective rust lubricant?
Thanks for any help!!!! CJ |

Re: 1991 Cherokee Rotor Disc Removal
You could try either PB Blaster or Liquid Wrench. The only problem with using them is they will liquify any grease they touch, so you will probably have to repack at least the outer front wheel berings. If they fail you could always try a little C-4 plastic explosive!!! (Not a good idea if you want to keep your Jeep!)

Re: 1991 Cherokee Rotor Disc Removal
you could try heating it up with a torch, that would help, even a propane torch or two of them at the same time. are you turning the correct direction, counter clockwise.
