Engine Oil in Spark Plug Chambers
I went to change the spark plugs and found engine oil in the chambers. Any ideas on where the leak is and how much it might cost in a shop to fix it? It has been having start up problems for about 3 months. Just found the problem on 12/14. Any info or suggestions would be great.
Thanks. |

Re: Engine Oil in Spark Plug Chambers
how did you find the oil? were the plugs coated? the most likely culprit is that your valve guides are leaking. if you get some smoke upon start up, and then no more, thats it. not a big deal.

Re: Engine Oil in Spark Plug Chambers
i was thinking. do you mean that there was oil around the plug wires outside the valve cover? if so, get a kit for doing valve covers. it includes the o-rings for the tubes.
good luck |

Replace the Valve cover gasket, the O rings, and the sprk plug wires.
Clean out the sparkplug ports. Brake cleaner, compressed air and a rag works pretty good. |
