Firebird/Auto parts in Orlando???

I live in the UK and am going to Orlando for a week on vacation soon. Can anyone recommend any good auto stores in the Orlando area, where I can buy parts for my 87 Firebird.

Also, can anyone tell me how I go about posting items to myself back in the UK (to avoid taking them on the plane)? Is it just a case of going to a post office and "posting" them?????

Thanks in advance.

Andy

Hello:

Orlando is my home town. I usually go to Autozone. There are several: Pep boys, discount auto parts, Napa, etc. This is just for general parts like starters, generators, etc. You may have to try a GM dealer. You have to go to a GM dealer for some hard to find parts. I would try the scrap yards. East HW 50 in Bithlo has a lot of junk yards. Try the orlando Yello pages under auto parts. From disney go west on I4 until you hit the toll road I believe 408 which bypasses orlando. I would do this on a weekday. Go to HY 50 go east until you see the junk yards.
Just use the post office for small things. Try UPS for large things like a door. I'm not sure about how big. I shipped a motorcycle using UPS. Chances are at some autoparts stores they may not have it in stock which is why I would try the junkyards. Phone the junk yard for the parts you want. I like the U -pull-it junk yards. If going to disney try wolfgang pucks food in down town disney ( down town disney is free admission, and they have a great music store there. ) Oh.. Our cops love money. Watch the speed limit and watch out for the nuts on the road. One neat -free- place to go is to The space center. I think it is free.

Re: Firebird/Auto parts in Orlando???

Hi DG,

Thanks for the info. Its interesting to hear from someone who lives in Orlando. We've just returned from our holiday there (I live in the UK) which was a few weeks ago now, however we will be returning in November to do the theme parks etc.

I didn't make it to any auto stores in the end as we ran out of time. We were only visiting for 1 week, but I will certainly track down the places you recommend in November. I have recently bought an additional car (1994 T-Bird) so I'll have extra reasons to check the stores out.

While we were in Orlando we were amazed at how many British people we came accross, compared to when we were there last, in 1997. It was almost like being back at home (and I don't mean that in a good way)! We ended up hiring a car (Sebring) to get away from them all. As an Orlando resident what do you make of it all?

Thanks again,

Andy
