Se-r?

hello guys, I'm new at this and I wanted to know what do you think about the SE-R, does it have the potential to be tunned? if so what year and model(trim), does it compares to the Integra Type R or the Honda Prelude in any way? thank you, respect

Re: Se-r?

are you talking about which se-r?
the early model 1991-1993 has tons of potential
good handling that can be made much better
good motor that will last forever and will tune nicely
stock it can keep up with an integra GSR
light weight, good gas mileage, nice car all around

the 200sx SE-R has more weight to throw around, and like wise slightly worse handling, but is a good car also, especially turbocharged.

the 2002-up SE-R specV is not quite as good, but still can be tuned up nicely.
it weighs more and is bigger,
handles worse, but you can upgrade it, just not very much
(oh and i would strongly recommend AGAINST dropping it more than 1 inch. the suspension and steering is such that you will dramatically increase bumpsteer and other negative quirks if you lower it too much.)
nice power and tons of torque.
stock 1/4 mile is a bit slower than an ITR IIRC
bolt ons do wonders for the 2.5L engine
ive seen intake, headers, exhaust, and balance shaft removal kit on a SER specV add up to 30-40 hp to the wheels. you cant do that with any honda.
there is a pretty low ceiling to the power, though. the car has a stroke over 100mm and you start breaking things earlier adding too much power.
you will find that the 2000-up sentras just dont handle as well if your used to driving hondas, especially integras and preludes.

earlier sentras do fine if you upgrade the suspension, but they still have a very basic suspension. most of the time you will be going a lot faster than it feels.
my 1999 sentra SE (basically a 4door 200sx SE-R) could keep up with my buddies prelude in any driving, even though it felt like it wasnt very fast.

any others feel free to update this.
its just my current knowledge.
