1999 Sierra Service 4WD Light COming On ?????
My truck has recently had the service 4WD light come on a few times and I can reset it. The truck has 161000 KM on it and I had the transmission serviced a year ago and the unit runs just fine, no noises or anything. How can I check to see if this is a serious problem or just a dummy light coming on at will. Do any of you have any thoughts?

if you have pushbutton 4wd and the little lights on the buttons dont stay on, it is more than likely the switch. This problem also makes the service 4wd light come on. The solder joints in the switch crack and cause intermitent bad connections. My 2000 sierra had the same problem at 60,000 and I took the switch apart and repaired the joints or you can buy a switch for 60-70 bucks.
