Have you checked the hobby shop, walmart, online?
I think testors make a candy apple red. And tamiya has red mica, which is almost the same. Apply a gold or silver base 1st tho. |

yeah, most candy apple reds are gonne be trasnparent. as with any candy color. spray a base of silver. i would reccomend dupli color millenium silver if you have access to it. it has a high metal flake content and would show up good

Remember that Candy is a technique not a type of paint. You'll need a metallic base coat and a transparent red. However you may end with a red that is too pink (or orange) if you use the wrong basecoat.
Tamiya Mica red is transparent and several guys here have done glorious paintjobs with it, Veyron and MIke United come to mind I think. Cheers Farrokh

Inspired by MikeUnited I made a GTX with the mentioned Tamiya Mica red over a gold base with lots of clear coats before polish and wax.
