Front Wheel Bearing

I just replaced the front left wheel bearing - the installation went smooth, I had a little bit of trouble breaking the bearing assembly from the hub but other then that all was fine.

I took the van for a test drive once everything was back together...There's a strange clinking sound going on...it's not constant, it happens mainly when you do quick turns back and forth - almost like somethings shifting. I don't think it's the CV joint because that whould be a constant ticking on a turn right? Does anyone know what this could be?

I didn't have specific torque specs for the 3 mounting bolts that hold the bearing to the hub. but I did snug them in nice and tight. Does anyone know these off hand? I torqued the center nut to 118 foot pounds, which is what the partsource computer said.

I'd appreciate any help.

I wouldn't necessarily eliminate the CV joints just because it isn't constant. I had a 90 Talon that had a bad CV joint that would only periodically make noise. It only happened rarely at first but progressively worsen to near constant before I figured out what it was. On taking it out and looking at the failure, part of the "cage" that held the ball bearings in place had cracked allowing the ball to slip out. My only guess was that when the ball was where it was suppose to be, it ran find, but when it would slip out partially, that's when I heard the clicking when the joint wasn't operating smoothly.

My factory service manual for my 2002 Silhouette says to torque the three new wheel bearing/hub bolts to 96 lb ft.
