Question geo metro moter swap

I was wondering if you guys can help me? im swapping motor in a 92 geo metro & moters are identical exept back of crankshaft. the one im pulling sticks out about a 1/2 inch from rear seal & has a self centering area in middle for the automatic flexplate. The other moter ,the crank only sticks out 1/4 inch and crank surface is completly flat so theres no way to center flexplate (flywheel for auto trans).the new moter didnt come with a flywheel or (flexplate) . do ihave the wrong flexplate ? the moters are close in year, or is it possible that i purchased a motor out of a clutch car & crankshafts are different because one moters for an automatic tranny & one is for a clutch? any help would be much appreciated. thanks ted

Re: geo metro moter swap

Ok i figured out myself . there is a cast spacer that can be removed for a manual tranny at rear of crankshaft , It looks like part of the crank , Very deceiving, you will need this spacer for a auto tranny. just tap it with a hammer to remove it.

Good info I've never taken a flexplate off a metro engine. Always dealt with manuals. We learn something new every day
