1990 plymouth sundance

Ok i am not a mechanic and cant even pretend to be like one so i need some help with a 1990 plymouth sundance that i just got. The problem is that it is running rough. When you put it in reverse or drive and hit the gas it starts to bog down like its about to stall. I have floor the gas peddle to keep it running. I recently replaced the spark plugs, rotar, cap, wires, filter, and fuel filter. I did the trouble codes with it and it says that the o2 sensor is bad but could that really be what is causing my problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanx

Definitely could be the root of the problem.

Re: 1990 plymouth sundance

my '90 sundance has just about the same problem. when i put it in drive and hit the gas it doesn't get out of the hole very fast. i know it's just a 2.5L but i can tell that something's not right. i've changed the spark plugs. the rotor and rotor cap are in good shape and so are my filters. i have yet to run a diagnostic on it but i was also wondering where i could look up the codes so i know what they mean.

Same problem here. When I hit the gas from a stand still, the car hesitates like it's going to stall, then surges forward. I really haven't tired to fix the problem as I have always suspected it to be over my head.

Q: how do you run a diagnostic check on your car??
And have youfound the codes yet.

Ian

Your O2 sensor tells the engine how to run. If it is malfunctioning than the engine may not be getting enough fuel when you take off. If it isnt that than I would have your fuel injection system checked out...

o2 sensor

I am not to sure its the o2 sensor anymore. I took all the plugs out and found that cylinders 1,3,4 are compensating for cylinder 2. The plugs are overburning and the plug in cylinder 2 is like brand new. I then did a compression test and found out that the compression in cylinders 1,3,4 are around 120 and cylinder 2 is around 40. I am not sure what to do next. I really dont think that this is a o2 sensor problem anymore. Any thoughts what might have happend?

I have a 89 sundance and same thing has happened to me except I cant check my codes on the dash. I can start the car and it will run at a very high idle but wont run a 1000 rpm or lower only once and a while it will run right. I've changed the 02 sensor the cap roter distributer even the throttle body and the map sensor, fuel filter only got to dive it about 6 months then it started stalling and now it wont run right does anyone have any ides befor I give the car away. By the way i took it in for a diagnosis and they also said one of my cylinders is low compression but a ll tha spark plugs are evenly carbonated.
