i think I blew my damn mafs again today. i was driving the car home from work and i was driving it around spiritedly. all of a sudden the car wouldn't rev over 2500 and it actually shut off at like 40 mph. i muscled it off to the side of the road (no power steering), and let it sit for a minute. i tried to start it and it wouldn't even idle. I tried again a minute later and it would stay running but the idle fluctuated from 700-1100 rpm. i got it home alright and i'm just sitting in my house pissed as all hell at this fuckin car. i just had the mafs replaced and my ecu was reprogrammed to accommodate an '03 mafs and supposedly all was well. what else will make the ecu go into safe mode other than the mafs blowing out? if it is the mafs then this will be my 4th time having it replaced. WTF is the problem with my car?

yeah, it's predominantly a 5.5 gen issue. if i hadn't just bought this bike, i'd seriously contemplate selling the maxima and getting the G35 i've always wanted, i can't be driving a car that's potentially always on the verge of a breakdown and from what i've seen the 350Z and G35's aren't having any mafs issues. unfortunately i can't afford a new car rigt now. i don't really know what to do.

it'll run, but you can't rev over 2400 rpm and the idle fluctuates, once in a while it'll even stall out.

well, if it will run like that in limp mode (i.e. maf unplugged) then its not a maf issue.

i thought limp mode meant safe mode. nah, if i unplug the mafs, it'll run for about 2 seconds before choking out.
