3800's running hot

(2002 impala LS)I know that the 3800 series motors are known for running hot, but deas anyone have things they've done to keep them cooler. I put in a 180 degree thermostat and that did help a bit, but now with this 90 degree weather my car is running hotter than usual and hotter than I would like it to. but I also added some water wetter, but I think most of it went into the coolant overflow tank, so I doubt its doing any good, which by the way does anyone know whats an easy way to get the drain plug on the radiator loose, damn thing is half hidden and I cant get it. but what are some other ways to keep these motors running cooler.

Mine does the same thing, I replaced the temp sensor and it's a little better, but if my car sits and idles for awhile, then i turn on the A/C because the cooling fans seem to run then. If it's idling for awhile without it running, mine will shoot up to two to three notches past half, seems a little to hot to me.....
