How often do you clean the intake filter?

I've had my weapon R short ram for about 4 months and havent cleaned it, and its startin to look pretty dirty. Should I clean it yet? And how should I do it, just basically take the filter part off and rinse it with a hose? Wouldnt there be some risk of getting water sucked into the engine? Should I leave the filter off for a couple hours to make sure it completely dries or something?

Dont know how the weapon R stuff works but I dont think its as simple as water and dry and yes the filter must be 100% before you put it back on.

I only go AEM and I always use the recharge kit for the AEM filters. You may want to find out or Im sure someone that knows on here will tell you if the W/R filter needs oiled or not cause Im not sure. Frankly I hated oiling my AEM filter it took forever and took too much time. First time I did it I over oiled the hell out of it and spent like 3 hours letting the filter bleed out the access oil.

Just use the K&N cleaning + oiling kit (recharge kit). Basically you brush off excess gunk on the outside, then spray / soak in the cleaning solution. Then rinse from inside out and lastly apply oil. Simple, but yea, I also over did the oiling part and had to let the excess flow out.

Re: How often do you clean the intake filter?

When ever I change my oil. I like to do it as a habbit like that so I dont slack off and next thing I know Im losing power and gas milage. That and I drive in alot of heavy construction areas so it gets pretty dusty.

Um...or you could just put in a real K&N and never have to change it for about 100,000 miles.
