not really civic related but asking opinions

well as much as i am a prelude owner now i still call the civic forum home! you guys!!!!! anyways im thinking about getting a set of kosei k1's and having them powdercoated black from the place around here that does decent work. heres a pic i stole from tirerack.com and did a shitty photochop job on to see what it would look like. opions wanted. fire away.

i have the same underbody kit and drop as in the pic so it would basically look the same. not to mention in might look into making my rear lights blue like accidentaly happened when i changed the original color of the car.

IMO i don't like black rims on darker colored cars.. well i really dont like them in general. with the color you have, i'd go with white or even bronze! just a though though. good luck in your decision.

I have to agree. I don't think gunmetal grey would really work either.

Wheels are about contrast - you have to pick up a color you see elsewhere on the car.

In your case , that's your clear lights and tail. Therefore I'd recommend aluminum or white.

All of blue's complimentary colors are rather garish (Purple, Green, Orange), so it seems that the only color pinstriping or highlighting you see on blue is white. If you're going for a clean look, then you also want to match the luminosity of the corners. Therefore, aluminum.

Bronze might work (e.g. Subaru WRC cars), but I don't like the effect on blue, even with large Yellow lettering on the car. Bronze just isn't orange enough to make it work. Yellow clashes with Blue.

Perhaps you could paint both the wheels and the underbody panels a nice, deep clearcoat orange (like the Mitsubishis had a couple of years back). That would be interesting, tasteful, and clean, and would at the same time stand out wonderfully.

black is the secondary color of my car, everything on the car that isnt blue, will be black. im having almost every part in my engine bay at one point in time or another powdercoated black with a thermocoating. not merely for show purposes but for functionality of heat transference. all except for the valve cover which will be ground to metel, brushed, and clear coated.

basically i am deffinatly not about flare, i like dark dreary evil things that do a hell of a alot more then go bump in the night. all the housings will be painted black, blacked out windows, and a black carbon fiber hood. hell when i get the turbo by thr end of summer i might even get the intercooler powdercoated black.

when you look at my car i dont want you to think, dude thats phat as hell. i want you to think, dude that is the most morbid thing ive ever seen in my life, a direct representation of what an evil car would look like.

but the opinions are appreciated. just thought i would share my reasoning.

If brooding evil is the look you're going for - who am I to argue?

Personally, I think it would require something larger to be menacing. A 60's muscle car, jet black, tinted, with chrome here and there, a blacked out grill, one hell of a V8 growl, a rough idle from radical cams, no catalytic converter, and a police bumper would, I think, communicate this image somewhat more effectively.

A small, refined, japanese sport coupe seems the wrong launching point for this image. To each his own. I would at least encourage you to consider that some chrome (not aluminum) highlights might be the barely bared fangs you need to complete the look. God help me if I know where you'd put it on the prelude. Perhaps chrome plate the very edge of the rim and powdercote the rest black while leaving the lugs chrome.
