Unhappy Olds 88 stalls while running at speed

Mechanic has given up and dealer can't find anything. Eighty-eight has developed a severe stalling problem. Stalls intermittently at idle, at slow speeds, at freeway speeds, when engine hot or cold, but usually restarts immediately. Even if it doesn't start immediately, the starter cranks, but it doesn't appear to have an ignitiion source. No computer codes register. When driving at constant speed of 65-70 engine tries to stall, but by immediately pumping accelerator, a complete stall / loss of power can usually be avoided. Obviously this doesn't work at slow speeds where stalls completely. Appears that there is a short somewhere, or some sensor fails intermittently, or ignition system fails momentarily. It doesn't appear to be fuel related since there is no coughing or other warning. Tuned up within past several months. Any ideas or checklists will be greatly appreciated.

You probably already figured out the crankshaft sensor

When the engine heats up, a crack in a crankshaft sensor gets wider until it loses charge. It goes quick. We're talking about 2 to 3 seconds. My mechanic went bonkers trying to figure it out. It took him 4 whole days to figure it out.
