Re: PCM Location???

EEC-5 hardware module....PCM....Engine Control Computer, Ignition control computer......

The location on my '96.....Engine compartment.... passenger side....mounted into the Firewall...just above and behind the top of the strut.
There is a BIG wire harness that goes to it. All you will see is the big connector on the end of the wire harness.....which is connected to the PCM.

One note.....for many "signals"....the PCM provides the ground path....and the power for the signal comes from another source.....
An example of this......there is power to the fuel injectors from another source......and the PCM momentarily provides the ground path.....that results in the fuel injector being energized....to give the squirt of fuel at the correct time.
I saw a post on another forum....person thought that their PCM was bad...or harness to it.....because they did not read a voltage at one injector's "hot" side...but had power to the other 5 injectors. Problem was not the PCM.....but the power source to the injector (a loose connection).

PCM is not a high failure item. There are a LOT of things that feed it. Including a switched power source.
