Door ajar warning

Hello has anyone had their "door ajar" light stay on with all doors closed and interior lights out. Checked each door switch and the dome lights go out as they should, but this "idiot light" stays on. Any ideas?

Do you have barn doors in the back?? My buttons stick at the rear doors all the time. Maybe check the door buttons. Open the door with the lights on or key in so it dings and walk around trying each door till the ding goes away. It might be closed but not making a good conection.

I have had the same problem on my 95 with the side sliding door for years. I think I had it fixed once under warranty only to have it happen again and again. I finally got use to it. Sometimes, when I hit a bump, it shuts off for a while.

Sounds like a connection problem. Find the door pin switch (you know, when you open the door and either the light comes on and or the door ajar chime sounds). Take it apart sandpaper the rust away or buy a new one. (You also may want to buy dielectric grease from your local auto parts store and apply it to any or all of your future electical connections ,as it repels moisture).

Re: Door ajar warning

i had the same problem with my 1990 but its none of that its the back door NOT the sliding door i used to slam the sliding door and sometimes work but its actually the back door its weird. check to see if you still have a plastic left where the back door closes (where it grabs on its on the bottom center) i have no clue what its called but just wrapped some electrical tape temporarly and check if it fixes it if you try to buy the plastic cover for it ford will make you buy the whole piece with the metal part.

I know you have no clue what im talking about so here is a pic (its not an aerostar but only to illustrate my point)
