Re: Engine poops up hill

What engine? Nobody can help you if you don't give us any information about what you're dealing with...

Do the RPM's drop? Does it just seems like the engine is struggling? How does the car run under normal conditions? Give us something...

Re: Engine poops up hill

V8 305 92 Rs, With catback exhaust I probably wouldn't know when it does this if I didnt have pipes. It has has a rich sound under normal conditions but then when going up hill a it becomes very deep but if I press the gas a little bit it back to normal. It does this sometimes. And one other thing it has been doing the check engine light comes on and off and when it comes on the car tries to accelerate on its own??? I cant catch the probably because the light wont stay on..

Re: Engine poops up hill

sounds a little bit like an ignition control module problem. It is not unheard of that these components will not set an error code when they fail. and they will cause a poor running condition not unlike the one you describe.

but the first thing is to do the regular service on the car. I dont know what kind of shape your car is in, but when was the last time you did a good ol fashioned tune up, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, induction service, fuel injector cleaner, fuel filter, air filter, all that fun stuff. If that dosnt fix it, then look to the ICM.

.well It sounds like it might be a catalytic converter. im not crazy but think of it, when your going uphill, somethin may fall a certain way and clog the cat. iif the cat is clogged or if debris may trap the intake in the cat, then thats gonna plug up your whole system and make it run like absolute sh*t. Im just sayin this because it happened to my camaro. It ran like crap, then i cut the cat off and put a new one on, and it ran perfect. Maybe it isnt it, but its worth a shot.

Engine poops up hill

Wow! This is a old thread I wrote a long time ago and no one responded. My car is a total mess right now looks wise but engine wise it is running pretty good. I think I know how to get pass the engine light problem usually when I start my car up it idles at somewhere near 15,000 rpms(I know not normal)If I let it run for about 10 mins it goes down to 5. And that usually stops the check engine like. But the last time I did a full tune up was 10/28/04. Plus I put rapid fire ac delco spark plugs in it. It was boggin down before that and contined after changed the fuel filter too. Only thing I can think of is the spark plug wires being to cheap.I might buy some better ones.

Re: Engine poops up hill

um.... i would say a 15,000rpm idle is rather abnormal. im impressed you still have an engine at all

but seriously if the new wires dont fix it, i would look to replace the ICM.
