car stopped, won't start

94 talon non turbo 2.0 L
Started fine, driving home with no sign of anything. I'm getting on the on ramp and the streering got hard, I looked down and the dash light were on. I got out checked the engine and found the terminal caroded. I cleaned it and got a click, sounds like from the battery area. I figured bad connection so I tried to jump it, but same click.
I don't think its the starter, since It stopped while driving and when trying to start, I only get one click and nothing else.
I checked some of the other threads, They seem to point me to believe its the ecm. Does that just go out with no warning?
Any other ideas??

Would the ingition switch cause the car to stop with no warning?
maybe the battery cables? (sorry, I thinking out loud)
What about a fuse of some kind? (there is a fuse box on the battery cable, which the fuses looked fine.)
all electrial items still light up
