Brake Dust

Anybody have tips or products for deep cleaning rims? Like rims that have the brake dust really caked in there. Thx.

Re: Brake Dust

Hmm i just use brake cleaner and a scrub of some sort that could reach in there (the rim). First i spray the rim real good with water to get the loose brake dust or any other road salt/dirt off then i spray the brake cleaner on (try not to miss a spot), let it sit for a min or 2, then srub away. wash it off with water and repeat until you get it as clean is it can be. I also finish the rim by using a sponge and carwash liquid just to get it clean. BTW ive heard some brake dust could stay on your rim if it stays there for a long period of time, not 100% sure but it sounds possible. Hope this helps
Peace!

Re: Brake Dust

What's simple green? Where can I get it? Just car part places? thx alot guys, I bought some Turtle Wax wheel cleaner cause it was the cheapest, if that doesn't work I'll see about getting the Simple Green stuff. Is Simple Green safe for all wheel finishes?

I dunno, that stuff is pretty harsh! You could use Purple Power. It will take engine oil off your driveway! I think they have both of em at Wall Mart.

I have seen it mess up paint before. I am just saying that I would be careful. And as the web site says: "DON'T WASH CATS OR RODENTS"
LOL
