1995 Regal stalls intermittently when in drive/reverse; hard to restart
Hello,
I have a 1995 Regal Custom, 3.8L with 114,000 miles. When I come to a stop, the engine stalls out, though the electrical system remains operational (i.e. fans blowing, lights remain on, radio on). After stall, it takes a few minutes to restart the car, which then stalled the next time I came to a stop. I had it towed to the Buick dealership who checked the electrical, ignition and fuel systems, which were working "great" and no error or history codes were stored. In addition, they were unable to duplicate the stalling, but suggested the crank sensor, fuel pump or EGR valve as possible causes. But might it also be the ignition switch? The air filter was brand new (a few days old) and the fuel filter was replaced 3,000 miles ago. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Matt |

update
I replaced the crank shaft sensor, which did not solve the problem. The car has since stalled and I can't get it restarted. It was towed to the mechanic's and will be looked at soon.

The ECM was replaced about a week ago and I've driven 200+ miles thus far, without incident.

I had the ECM replaced, which seemed to have solved the problem. I drove the car from San Diego to Rhode Island, a 3,500 mile trip without any problems.
