cylinders numbers

Could anyone tell me how the cylinders are numbered on my 89 Bonneville SE. For example is the #1 cylinder left or right front bank?
or left or right rear bank? Also are they numbered from left to right or do they alernate from front to back. I cant see any numbers cast into the intake manifold or heads. Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks RW.

Re: cylinders numbers

Cylinders are as follows:

Rear bank: 2 4 6
Front bank: 1 3 5

Read left to right while standing in front of car.
