New Gibson Exhaust Sounds on 1999 Tahoe

Well, I did it. I replaced my exhaust on my 99 Tahoe with a Gibson system. My 99 is a 2 door with the dual inlet muffler. It is definitely louder at idle and during acceleration although not as loud as I thought it would be at WOT. At idle it has a nice low rumble but it does not get too loud during takeoff. Inside it is much louder than the standard system and at certain speeds it could be too much for people who don't want to hear any noise at all. But then again those people wouldn't put such a system on their truck to begin with. I have not had a chance to take it out on the highway yet (70 mph).

I recorded the exhaust sound before and after the change over and you can click on the 2 links below to hear the difference yourself. Both recordings were made with the recorder (digital camcorder) on the ground, about 3' behind the rear passenger tire.

These are high quality, mono versions reduced from a digital camcorder to reduce overall file size but if you have a good sound system with good low end response, you will be able to hear the difference easily.

P.S. Here is my Tahoe's web page:
