Tip of the Day, by Me

The best investment (a good one at least) for GA owners and any car owner for that matter is a Chilton's manual. Or better yet for $100 a GM technical service manual for your specific car.

Or a service manual for free (if you work at a dealership, or go to college for auto mechanics like i do) I got the service manuals for my cars for free, because all the service information is online now, theres not much need for the service manuals, so i got em for free.

The GM service manuals are behind a password protected site. Only way to get a password is to pay for it which is about 3K a year or work in a GM dealership. Some auto school recieve this info for free but they usually are tied into GM somehow.

But their are web site out there that have the service manuals online for free. Usually they are old copies of the service manuals. SOme of the sites only have the manuals up to 2001. The newer GM service manuals are only online with a DVD backup incase of the site going down. But this DVD is susposed to not be able to be copied.

Flatrater stated it all. I have access through my dealership and through my college (my college Hudson Valley Community College, has a program tied to gm, where i get gm credits through school) But yea you can access this information, but youd have to pay for it.

Hudson Valley is a GM training center. From what I heard it's not too big of a place but it has a great teacher. Hudson Valley works out of the Tarrytown training center. Tarrytown is where I go all the time.

If I run across the free web sites I will try and post them.

Re: Tip of the Day, by Me

Right it is a training center as well as a college. Im enrolled in a two year program where i get a degree in auto mechanics and get gm credits through the college. So its like im taking the gm classes, but im not.
