Power to the ignition coils....

What is the quickest way to check if there is power to each ignition coil? I have always dealt with spark plug wires and these are just a bit different. I am reading a haynes book how to do it, but there has got to be a better way then the 1-2hour project they mention. Anyways, experience is ALWAYS better than the books. I have one cylinder misfiring(#1) and I just need to make sure the wires connected to the ignition coil are delivering power to make a spark. Thanks for any help.
