dropped in an engine and no start
I just bought a 96 Contour 2.0 DOHC 5 speed off my cousin for about $400 because it had some major issues. He overheated it badly and blew the head gasket and probably cracked the head, coolant shooting out over flow jug and oil shooting out the air box.But anyways I had plans to rebuild the motor but the bolts were pretty much welded into the engine and were impossible to remove. So I bought a used engine, I wanted a rebuilt motor but cant afford one and this car is just for everyday driving since my Saturn is getting ready for shows. Ive replaced the clutch along with the motor because of the age of the old one. I got everything installed and hooked up went to start it and all I got was the engine to crank. I checked for spark, none, checked for fuel pressure, plenty. I figured well the coil or wires are bad(brand new wires that were on the car), so I swapped the coils and still no spark, same with the change of wires. I checked to see if there was any voltage to the coil and there was same with the injectors. I checked relay terminals(not the relays themselves but have swapped them around to see if there would be a change) and all fuses and everything checked out fine. Relays click, fuel pump whines, engine cranks, voltage to everything but no start???? How in the world can it not start? Timing is fine. I really dont think there is an anti-theft system holding it up, this is a very basic GL model, but all I can come up with is the PCM needs to be flashed. If these cars feel that there is going to be serious damage to the engine will the PCM just shut down and not allow you to restart till its flashed or something? I have no idea what to do, if I dont get any really helpful information, it will have to go to the dealer for repairs(which with this problem I doubt I got the money to fix it) and I work at a garage but this problem seems to be more of a dealer only repair.
