Garrett T-28 bolt on upgrade Turbo

Hi I would like to upgrade my turbo on my Gsx 99 and I would like to know if the Garrett T-28 bolt on upgrade turbo is a good choice for the money or if I bettergo with a bigger one. How much WHP can I expect with a t-28 and the support mods ? And how much PSI can I put on a T-28.

Depends on how much HP you plan to have in the end. Its good turbo, awsome spool, but is only good for 300hp. If you wan't more, get a big t 28 killer or forced performance t28. Both are great garrett upgrades. Get your supporting mods first or you won't get much more power at all

Re: Garrett T-28 bolt on upgrade Turbo

You should only consider the T28 over a 16g if you seriously lack mechanical skill to do a little extra work. Everyone and their mom is buying an EVO 3 16g these days for hundreds less and more airflow. How much boost you run isn't important, it will be determined when you tune your car. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 20psi on this sized turbo for pump gas. A 16g can do something like 350whp on average if tuned well, a T28 should be a little less.

Re: Garrett T-28 bolt on upgrade Turbo

Very good point. The EVO is a more versitile turbo, but you will either have to purchase an install kit (which often times makes up for the difference between a 16g and t-28) or peice one together youself. It is not hard to do, so unless you are not mechanically adept at all, I would say go for the 16g.

T-28 is good for 300hp, EVO is good for 380-400 depending on the options you get with it (eg, porting clipping, bigger flapper.)
